What do you get when you cross a smorgasbord of talented seniors with a young-at-heart, appreciative audience ready to have a good time?  The annual Gwinnett Council for Seniors Summer Party & Variety show–the “place to be” for seniors this past week.  Great entertainment, high spirits, prizes, games, warm food and warm friends!

For this year’s party, we decided to include a variety show that would showcase some of the talented seniors in our community.

We performed a couple of reminiscent medleys to start the event…we love it when the audience joins in and pretty sure our selections were a hit.

Next up was Frank Causey, a story teller, with a humorous story about the trials and tribulations of seniors packing for vacation.

Bud Van Orden and Barbara Hall were up next, with a terrific ballroom dance demo.  (FYI Bud will be offering ballroom dance classes this fall at Bethesda Senior Center.)

Terry Manning’s specialty was historical story telling.  Dressed in revolutionary uniform as George Washington, the Father of Our Country grabbed our attention with some clever and little known historical factoids and “mother of inventions”.

We ended the variety show with Claire Cammarata providing line dance instruction to everyone, and an enthusiastic crowd joined her on the dance floor.

Always passionate about encouraging our senior population to stay active, we invited our friend Al Stacer of the Gwinnett Senior Golden Games to join the Party and help folks sign up for the Spring 2019 Games.

We followed the Variety Show with a Limbo contest, and plenty of door prizes. While everyone munched on their scrumptious lunch prepared by Masters Table, Sheri & Bill entertained with some food for thought trivia to stir the pot.

Hosting/emceeing this event for five seasons in a row, we come away each time happy to have been a part of this positive event and part of the upbeat senior crowd in our community.   We duet…better as we go!  Sheri & Bill

Partners in life and in harmony, Grammy nominated “Sheri & Bill” have shaped their passion into a Musical Journey, entertaining folks with their “folky pop” sound and personal touch.  With keyboard and guitar, they duet their way through favorite folk and classic soft rock and original tunes of life and love.
